Filter functionality for news on sharepoint online not working, when showing news on hub
We have a Intranet frontpage (a hub) on sharepoint online to which we have connected a site for News. On the news site we are able to add a filter for different type of News (Corporate, Marketing, Local sites etc) based on the News title ( includes the words like Corporate, Marketing ...).
All news are also posted on our front page (the hub), however here we cannot use the filtering functionality (only audience targeting is possible).
Have anybody experienced same problem ?
Is this a bug or function not available ?
- Filters are not available in the News web part if you are pulling in content from a different site collection, which is what you are doing in a hub. You can use filters in the Highlighted Content web part when you have more than one site collection but not currently in News.
Hi Susan, thanks for swift reply. Hopefully some kind of solution will provided in the future, for managing News on global scale.

- You do have the audience targeting options. You can use audience targeting for your news instead of using search filtering. https://support.office.com/en-us/article/overview-of-audience-targeting-in-modern-sharepoint-sites-68113d1b-be99-4d4c-a61c-73b087f48a81
