Events web part only showing two items?

I have an events list on our root site (/) and if I try to show events from that list on another site there is a strange problem. The Events web part will only show only two (2) items if there is no filter for category no matter how I configure it. If I enter a category I get the number of events configured for the web part.

 

Does anyone have a clue? Is there any limitations to the web part? I've checked search settings and more but can not find anything explaining why this happens.

 

Oh, this is on SharePoint Online.
