Error with Managed Meta Navigation
- Sep 27, 2017
Managed Naviagtion isn't support across multiple site collections. When you apply the same navigation to multiple site collection you will get a warning and break it in the first site collection!
If you need Managed Nav across site collections then the solution you should use is this one:

Deleted,,
I had the same earlier today after I applied managed navigation to a site. We had a lot of performance issues ( page load of 40 seconds) and managed navaigation resolved this issue ( down to 4-6 seconds).
I got your error a few times, Ctrl-F5 (sometimes a few times) resolved these issues and it seems to be stable now. I only have a single site collection so managed navigation seems to be the right thing.
I wonder if there were updates installed in my tenant.
I've refreshed many times and it does seem to be more broken.. so something in the release has possibly caused an issue here, I'd be interested to hear if others have has issues lately as well..

- AnonymousSep 27, 2017Pieter... can you confirm or clarify whether this means you can't have multiple term sets and associate each separate one with a different site collection?

You can have multiple naviagtion term set and apply each term set to a single site colelction. Rather than Waldek's solution this is quite a common way of managing the short comings of Managed Navigation
So if you had 4 site collections and 4 identical copies of a gloabl navigation termset. Then you could apply one term set to each site collection. This is however a bit painful as you would have to ensure somehow that the 4 termset remain the identical.
