Oct 31, 2017Error when exporting a SharePoint list to Excel 2016: "An unexpected error has occurred"
Hello!
I have been exporting SharePoint 2013 lists (on-premises) to Excel 2013 for the past 2 years. Now I have a new computer with Office 365 ProPlus Excel 2016 (version 1709) and suddenly I get an error now only in Excel 2016.
Excel 2013 still works and refreshes fine.
Here is the error I get: "An unexpected error has occurred. Changes to your data cannot be saved."
"Problems obtaining data."
Here is the connetion string from the .iqy file I receive when clicking "Export to Excel" in the SharePoint 2013 ribbon:
Provider=Microsoft.Office.List.OLEDB.2.0;Data Source="";ApplicationName=Excel;Version=12.0.0.0
Any thoughts?
Regards, Ronaldo
- To summarize, you:
- have sharepoint 2013 on prem;
- have excel 2016 ProPlus;
- you have a list in sharepoint that you select 'connect to excel' from;
- the .iqy file shows up;
- you open the .iqy file and excel throws that error
Am I summarizing the issue?
Some questions:
- has your account changed in any way?
- has your sharepoint list/library changed in any way (permissions)?
- have you updated excel proplus to latest build?
- are you on sp2013 latest patches?
- is your machine in the same domain-joined environment it was?
This will help get you more responses.
