Embed Web Part

Good Day

 

We have been noticing strange unexpected behavior with the embed web part.  When the embed code is added, we are noticing the thumbnail/image preview for the video is not defaulting to the very start of the video.  When we add the first embed video to the modern page, the Thumbnail shows the very start of the video as we liked.  Adding additional embed videos on the same page does not follow that logic.  When refreshing the page even the first embed video is then affected and no longer shows as thumbnail the very start of the video but a random image/section of the video.  Any ideas help to help control this will be great.   The embed URL does not point to a specific section of the video, as we click the videos they do start from the beginning.

    are you embedding content from an external site (eg: youtube)?

    Could it depend on the service provider? Consider that that web part, basically it's an iframe.

      Thank you for your response. Yes its is an internal URL going to a video streaming solution we have and follows all the rules/requirements for the embed URL to work. It is really is strange that inconsistent behavior with the thumbnail/preview image. What is the expected behavior here?

        There shouldn't be a particular expected behavior because it's just an iFrame, so it shows a link.

        Did you try to embed your link in an iFrame, in a stand-alone HTML page?

        In this way, you can verify out of the box behavior from your internal portal.
