Edit' rights tries editing a document from a different device or browser it is grayed out

Hello

Please i need your help on this issue.

When a user with confirmed 'Edit' rights tries editing a document from a different device or browser it is grayed out using Edge browser as usually use Chrome.

They are logged in to their Microsoft account and accessing the file to be edited in SharePoint. They are trying to edit the file in the browser as they only have an E1 license.

The users are in the Customer Success SharePoint group and they are Members with Edit rights.

I dont think the document library have the unique permissions that override site-level permissions?

Here is the screenshot of the item-level permissions on individual documents or folders?

I believe the group assigned at the site level or only at the document library level?

The affected user can create or edit a new document in the same library.

  • Hi IBN22

when a user have edit access, he have the same permission on all other devices and browsers with this M365 account.

You have written: "When a user with confirmed 'Edit' rights tries editing a document from a different device or browser it is grayed out using Edge browser as usually use Chrome."

    >> that means, it works on one device? What do you mean with it is grayed out? How it looks greayed out?

    • First picture are the permissions on the document (= item-level permission).
    • Second one are the site permissions, when a user have item-level permissions or edit on library level, it is ok, he don't need edit permissions on the whole site.
    • Third are from a list, but when he can create new documents, it looks good ond library level

    Options to check:

    • Is the document checked out?
    • Do you use a Flow or approvals?
    • Ensure that permissions are correct at every level. This is very important when operating SharePoint.

    Best, Dave
