Documents are getting blocked for one hour
Hi everyone,
everytime we upload a document to SharePoint (i.e. via Teams) this document gets blocked for at least one hour. We can edit it, but we can't delete it. SharePoint seems to think, that the person is still working with this document (which he is obviously not).
Is this a common problem, are there any settings or is this even a feature Microsoft intentionally implemented?
We already had some problems with it. If someone decides to delete this document because of wrong content etc., this person has to wait for an hour. Meanwhile other persons can see, edit and share this document.
Yes, there are some work-arounds but I don't think that work-arounds are the right way to go...
Thank you for your help! - Alina

Is it only when You upload a new file to the Document Library or is it also when You are editing i file that already is uploaded?

Also when we are editing a file that is already uploaded. Everytime we edit it, SharePoint tells us that this person is still working with this document. Even the same person can't delete it.
We can't rename it to something like "wrongDocument" or move it to another file. SharePoint is just locking this Document... except for editing or sharing because of the option of working together on the same document. Which is great, don't get me wrong! But in this case it can lead to some problems.
And yes, we also tried to check the document out, but like I said, it's locked...

Well then it sounds like the same old story as i mentioned above...
Sometimes i have experienced that cache and browser settings can affect this. If you are using IE, you can try to clear the cache and thereafter change this setting and see if it helps. (longshot but worth a try).
Like i mentioned, in an earlier comment, this is common and there are no documented official solution to this (and i am pretty sure i have looked as far as the last page of Internet...). You can contribute with your vote her in UserVoice. Lets hope this gets solved once and for all.

Hi Alina!
It is a common problem. Here You can read a related article where we discuss a similar issue. Unfortunately there is no other solution to this currently.
Regards, Magnus
- Mmm...strange, because Alina is saying the problem happens when uploading a document that is totally unexpected.

Missed that. I agree, this was a new one..
