Doc library reverts to classic when included as a web part

WebPart pages are classic pages so if you add a document library webpart to a webpart page you will see it in the classic experience. The new way to add templates to a document library in the modern experience is just for the modern experience and not for the classic one
Thanks. So...if I understand you correctly, there's no way to have a 2-column 'page' that has, say, a calendar on it and also a document library that appears in the modern experience? Or is there some new thing besides a web part page that I can use to accomplish this?
