Different usage possibilities with the hero teaser webpart and property pane bug

I did some experiments with the hero teaser web part in different column layouts and documented it in this post. I come to the conclusion that you can use the hero teaser web part sort of a content navigation. What are your thoughts about that?

 

Unfortunately there seems to be a bug, if you want to edit the web part in 2 or 3 column layouts

    The webpart is really designed for Full width column and single width column by design. I wouldn't try to fit it in anything less, maybe at most a big column with small side column but that's pushing it. There are other webparts for smaller items such as Highlighted content and or Image etc.

      I don't agree with you for two reasons

      • due to the responsive design of the webpart, after my opinion, it is meant to be used in other than one column layout. It does it on mobile anyway
      • the image web part and the highlighted content web part have different use cases. 

       

      I agree with you that there are other web parts for content navigation. But why shouldn't we enlarge our possibilities to use the web parts.

        I mean you just have to drag the webpart out, change options and drag it back and it works. I guess there is something in spfx preventing properties box from rendering on a webpart that can grow a certain size.
