Deleting root site and starting from scratch

I have been playing around in Sharepoint and learning as I go. Now that I am ready to really start building the framework for my company, I find that the test page I started with can't be deleted. I don't need to convert or migrate, I just want to start from scratch so that when my employees click on the Sharepoint app link, they will get taken to a Communication hub site, hopefully with the url xxx0.sharepoint.com

You would be able to use the Site Swap command to achieve this - https://blog.hametbenoit.info/2019/08/06/sharepoint-online-you-can-now-swap-sites/#.XZMWi1VKhpg

AndreaLarsen I dont think MS gives us the possibility to do this, you can read this for one option

    https://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/205942/i-need-help-changing-the-default-url-for-sharepoint-in-o365

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/office365/admin/manage/customize-the-app-launcher?view=o365-worldwide

Another one can be that you add a redirect script on old site to new one but I don't think it's very neat solution
