Default proofing language
I would like the default proofing language to be UK English for documents created through the online interface of a SharePoint online site.
Please can you tell me the settings that the site admin must set to ensure this happens.
I have tried the following settings shown here:

Hi MartinLaplante
Thanks very much for replying and for your blog article. It is most appreciated.
I forgot to say in my original post that I was talking about new Word documents created through the sharepoint online interface.

I wrote about this when it first came out.

There is nothing the site admin can do. Users can change their preferred languages (more: language not region or locale) in their M365 profile, that doesn't always work for me. Changing their browser language preferences works, as does installing the full Microsoft Editor browser extension, which is very configurable.

Hi MartinLaplante

I'm not an experienced user, so I think I used the wrong words to describe my problem, and I can't edit the original post unfortunately.
I would like the default proofing language to be UK English for *new Microsoft Word* documents created through the online interface of a SharePoint online site.
I have set the language/locale/regional settings in the following places:
- Onedrive Update Profile > Site settings > Regional settings
- OS Settings & Privacy > Time & language >Language & Region
- Microsoft Edge > Languages
- account.microsoft.com > Settings & Privacy > Language & Region
Do you happen to know what sharepoint settings the site admin should set to control the default proofing language new word documents?

OK, different problem.
I don't know the right way of doing this, but I'll tell you how I do it. In library settings under Advanced settings, find "Document template"You can edit the template online, but I tend to edit the template.dotx file on my workstation, change the default proofing language and upload it to the right place on the site.
