Creating a unique group for 1 document library
Bryan365 Did you provide any site permissions to SharePoint group when you created it?
You should not grant any permissions to group on site while creating it:
You can directly grant permissions on library after breaking permissions inheritance: Customize permissions for a SharePoint list or library
