Create new Communication site from existing communications site

Greeting all! 

I am looking to streamline/automate site creation.  We have 2-3 Communications sites that we use today to duplicate new sites using Sharegate.  This process works well, but now looking to streamline it more.  We would like to create new sites based off the existing site and content.

Is anyone doing this today?  Would you be able to share how you setup this?  

As part of the streaming lining I would like to:

Add site owners (individuals and AD groups)

Add the site to a Hub

Appreciate and examples or suggestions!
