Counting words in Sharepoint list

Trying to use a calculated column to count the number of words in a column without spaces. I have tried using =LEN(trim([]) but this only counts the number of characters. Does anyone know how to only count the words in a column  of a Sharepoint list please as I can not find a formula to do this. Thank you in advance.
