Column from parent content-type is missing

Sometime within the past few days, I noticed that a column from a parent content type is not being inherited by any children's content types. This is a custom column that we created that we use across all of our sites.

The problem is not site-specific, it happens on any site that I test adding the child content type to. One of the parent columns is not available.

Any way to troubleshoot this? I re-published the parent and child last night, and there is no change so far.

Hope you are still around, did you ever solve this? I have the same issue and it does not make any sense.

I have sites where it works fine, and a site where it doesn't.

    Eg,

    Parent Type (PT)

    Col A

    Col B

    Col C

    Child Type inheriting from PT

    Col D

    Col E

    Col A

    Col B

    Col C - missing .

It does not always happen and I'm starting to lose it with Sharepoint.

jonface Sorry, I can't recall now where this issue happened for me. We currently are not having this problem, so I assume the content type updating process was bugged - but I can't say for sure.

      Best of luck!

Mysticode thanks for taking the time 3 years later to reply, you clearly understand the SharePoint frustrations and how inconsistent it can be for no good reason. All the best!
