Choice Column Values
I have a Choice Column that contains various employee names. For the 1st entry, I merely want to use
an "-" (so that it will be the default). When I go to the SharePoint site, I receive a message...'-' is not a valid value for this field. Do I need a different character, method, etc.?

RJF61 You can simply remove default value from column settings.
Modern experience: Set default value to "None"
Classic experience: Remove the text auto-selected in Default value and save column settings

- Why not just remove the default field as empty after creating the choice field? Else try to reload and try again, it shouldn't be an issue to use "-" as an default value. I just tried on a new field both via the view and in settings 🙂
