    Thanks for the reply. I think the issue what I was experiencing was due to the browser cache being 'full'. Ihave found many times when anomalies happen cleaning the browser cache seems to fix the issue or at least help it.

Was your issue a temporary issue or a time lag? Otherwise you can use managed metadata and user can choice a value from a term set.
