Changing to New Modern Communication & Team Sites
This is probably a very basic question but here goes. Currently, we have a department site, available to all. Under that, we another available to all subsite, then we have at 2 subsites restricted members only. So, in planning the transition to the modern sites, would I create one Communication site where all the info from those 2 available-to-all sites would reside, then just 1 team site for those 2 subsites that are restricted to members only?
TIA

- bsim365Brass ContributorIn modern SharePoint sub-sites are not recommended, instead use a flat architecture.
Your main communication site could act as your hub site and the other sites could be associated to that hub site. Navigation can be shared from hub site across the associated sites.
It's okay to mix and match team and communication sites as well, the site type depends on business objective collaboration vs communication
