Change Access Permanently for File in SharePoint Folder

Hi all

 

As far as I know, anyone with an access to a SharePoint folder also can edit the files inside the folder. Now, I need to make all the files inside a folder to become Read Only.

 

Is it possible to change access for all files in a SharePoint folder to be Read Only?

  • moch_galih Try following these steps:

    1. Go to document library
    2. Hover over folder name
    3. Click ellipses ( ... ) and select Manage access
    4. Select Advanced link at the bottom of manage access popup. It will open new browser tab with classic experience permissions page
    5. From PERMISSIONS tab from top bar > select Stop Inheriting Permissions 
    6. Grant yourself and any other site admin Full Control access - this is very important
    7. Remove all other existing permissions
    8. Use Grant Permissions option from PERMISSIONS tab to grant permissions again. This time use below settings while granting permissions:
