Can't replace root site
Hello,
We would like to change the root site in our sharepoint admin center. I have located the root site, and I can click on 'replace site'.
But when I enter the url of the 'new root site', it keeps telling me that I should analyse the page with an external plugin (page diagnose for Sharepoint). The problem is that I have already done that, and there were no problems found. But I still can't change the site. The button 'save' is greyed out.
What I already have done so far is:
- Verify that permissions are the same on both sharepointsites. Root and new one.
- Changed the current root site from 'teamsite (classic)' to 'modern page' with powershell. This is a strange one because I can see that the template of the root site is changed, but in sharepoint admin it still says 'teamsite (classic)'. Maybe it takes 24 hours to adjust?
- Ran the sharepoint page diagnose tool: no problems were found.
I hope someone can help me because I have been struggling with this for hours now. And I can't figure out why I just can't change the root site.

I have to make sure the settings are exactly the same. In my scenario, the external sharing of the current root site and the new site were not the same. - Vertebre85Iron Contributor
Hi
Is the new website well a "Communication site " type or a teams site without an office 365 groups (and without publishing feature on)?
The swap root site only work for communication type. I think there is something in the roadmap for other type.
