Cannot delete OneDrive personal sites

I'd like to delete the OneDrive personal sites for all users via

Remove-SPOSite -Identity https://contoso-my.sharepoint.com/personal/j_doe_contoso_com

Unforntunately I always get an error message:

"Remove-SPOSite : The requested operation is not supported for site: ...."

Any ideas what could cause the trouble?
