Can anyone confirm this - Audience Targeting in Menu Navigation (and AD-based groups)

We have been using AAD to sync on prem user accounts and Security Groups into O365 for years.  One group (email enabled security group) is called "O365 SharePoint Online Admins).  In SharePoint Online, we have used that group to apply audience targeting to some links in some sites.  That is just one example.

In the past week or so that I've noticed, this functionality has STOPPED working.  It has been working for several years that way.  It works fine for SharePoint-based Groups, but no longer works for AD-based Groups.

Can anyone else confirm this in their environment?  Does anyone know if this is something that has been intentionally removed, or perhaps a bug?

Sort of confirmation from my side: In my environment (Office 365 Developer Tenant) I've created an AAD Security Group. I've then tried adding this group as an audience on a new Navigation Link but I was unable to do so. Using the audience picker I was unable to find my new or any Security Group

Hmm, seems I ran into some timing issue earlier. If I now try to assign the audience again the audience picker resolves the Security Group and the audience works as expected.
