Automatic Site Storage Management
- Jul 25, 2018
Existing sites will get their limit increased to the maximum site collection size (currently 25TB). Once you're running out of available storage in your tenant you'll just need to buy additional storage. Nothing will change as far as I know in the quota for individual site collections but you will ultimately run into warnings / errors related to no more storage available (I don't know the exact behavior).
More details are described at the links below:

Hope this helps!

- Jul 25, 2018Paul is totally correct :-)...and of course, saying that a Site Collection can store up to 25 TB in SPO does not mean you have that 25 TB ;-). Automatic quota management is great because you don't need to worry about reaching storage limits while manual quota management is just the opposite

Thank you all the responses, I appreciate it. Interesting learning existing web sites will also get adjusted to a 25TB quota. One other related question is regarding some site templates. For example Communications site. I did notice that those seem to be assigned automatically 1024GB quota even though you may have automatic storage management in place. The same seems to apply to the personal blog site that gets created when you start leveraging a personal blog from your Delve page. I saw too that Modern Team sites created as part of TEAMS have a 1024GB storage quota. Has anyone noticed this and may know why this is the case? Thanks!
