Automated folder names

Hi, this may be a simple solution but we've been struggling with it for some time now.

We are using Sharepoint to store our folders on our customers, in the format "JFL-001" "JFL-002" etc. which then have several documents within them.

We're looking for a way for Sharepoint to Automate the folder names, this does not necessarily have to be in chronological order but if the folder name could then be linked to a title or header within a template word document in the folder that would be a bonus!
