Audiences based on SharePoint groups issue with renaming

Hi,

 

I have a webpart with Audiences configured, which are based on SharePoint groups and not on AD groups. Everything is working fine, except when a group name is changed. The users that belong to the group immediately lose the ability to see the webpart. What I'd like to know is if the group name configured in the webpart audience is eventually updated by any SP timer or if I'll have to script this.

 

Anyone has had this problem?

 

I'm not sure if the usual audience timer takes care of this but nevertheless in SharePoint Online I cannot run the timer manually and I'm trying to avoid a 7 days wait to sort this out.

    Hi Marco,

     

    You have to update the Audience with the new group name - if the audience is compiled and up to date with the changes you don't have to change any settings in the web part.
