Attachments don't download in a Sharepoint list created from an access database

Hello all, I have an Access database with attachments column and the access database has over 160 entries. When I moved the database to sharepoint, the attachments column shows up and each cell shows an attachment symbol in the classic sharepoint view (that's how users will see the list). When I click on the attachment, nothing opens up or downloads. What could be the problem here? Any ideas / suggestions would be appreciated.
