Unable to Edit Certain Fields
I have two different projects that I am working on. When I open project 1, I am able to make edits, add tasks, etc. as normal. When I open project 2 I am unable to make any edits except for start/finish dates and predecessors. For example, if I attempt to add a new task and give it a name the cell becomes blank and nothing appears when typed. The same issue occurs when editing fields such as duration, resource, notes. If I then go back to project 1 I will encounter the same issue as project 2.
I am not sure what could have changed as I have not opened either project in over a month. Both projects are saved to a local hard drive so I am the only person with access.
Thank you in advance.

Ouch. I have never run into bizarre behavior like this. I would suspect that your installation of Microsoft Project is damaged. I would recommend you try running a repair on the tool to see if this resolves the problem. Hope this helps.- Shawn_LordCopper Contributor
Dale_HowardMVP Forgive my ignorance, but would I go about running a repair tool on the project?

No need to apologize, my friend. Go to the Control Panel and run the repair on your copy of Microsoft Project to see if that resolves the problem. I should have been more clear in my previous reply to you. Let us know if this helps.

The only thing that comes close to behavior like this popped up several versions ago. I think it was resolved but it's easy to check. Go to File > Options > Advanced group > Edit. Make sure the option to "Edit directly in cell" is checked. Why this option even exists I have no idea. If the option is already checked in your version, then I'd go with Dale's sage advice.
