Project for web in MS Teams

Hi I am wanting to add a project plan to Microsoft teams. I have created a project plan in project for the web (website), however when i try and add it to the project tab in a Microsoft Teams (team), its not there because the project name assigns it to an office365 group with that exact project name. I dont believe this used to be the behaviour of project for the web as i could easily add the project plans to a teams channel before.

  • Hello paulk2224 ,

If I've understood the issue correctly, that is how it works. From the Project Teams app, you can create a new Project if there are no projects associated with the current Team or if the current Team does have a project associated you can pick that project.

A Project in the Project for the web (website) that is not part of a Team / M365 Group, can't be added to a Team via the Project Teams app, it has to be done via the Project for the web web app. If a project is part of a Team / M365 group already, it can't be added to a different Team via the Project Teams app.

    I hope that helps

The new behavior in Project for the web, where project names create Office 365 groups, can be tricky.

    Try this:

Rename your project to avoid conflicts with existing Office 365 groups.
Add the project to Teams by clicking '+' in the channel, selecting 'Project,' and finding your project.

Our team at Seotwix recently faced similar issues, and these steps helped us. If it does not work, contact us.

Just sharing my experience as it may be helpful.  We have deployed P4W as a named instance with Project Accelerator and I am a System Admin.  When I click the Project tile in Teams it provides access to the entire environment, not a single project, just as if I had opened the instance in PowerApps.
