Custom View with Subset of Tasks

Hi,

How can a view be created which shows the subset of tasks, based on a few criteria ?

One straight forward way is to put filters in Gantt chart view and show only the tasks which pass the filter. But I am looking at creating a view which always shows the subset of tasks, defined by some criteria.

For eg. If the Task list has tasks assigned to Sales, Marketing, IT departments, I want to create 3 custom views one each for Sales , Marketing, IT and respective views only show the tasks specific to the department.

Additionally, some tasks in each of these departments are executive tasks.

So how can I create a custom view for Sales - which shows only the executive tasks only in Sales.

Similarly views for Marketing and IT also to be created showing only executive tasks in Marketing / IT .

thanks ,

First, create three custom filters: one for Sales tasks, one for Marketing tasks, and one for IT tasks. Then create three new custom views, each of which uses the Gantt Chart screen, and each of which uses one of the three custom filters you created. Hope this helps.

    NKumar2010,
In addition to Dale's excellent suggestion, you should also consider creating custom view tables for each of your custom views so only the fields of interest appear.
