Can't reduce row height - tried everything!
Hi there,
I have a master plan which brings together a number of subprojects. I want to display just the summary tasks of each subproject to show the phasing of our entire portfolio. Even though row height under the gridlines menu is set to 1, wrapped text is off, and there are no labels on the gantt above/below the bar (only inside), I can't seem to get rid of the white space between rows.
All ideas welcome!
Thanks,
Naomi

Naomi,
You probably have a text label at the top of a task bar (subtask) that isn't being displayed. If this happens on just one bar, the Gantt chart will appear more vertically extended, as shown in your image.
Out of curiosity, look at the Gantt with all the subtasks displayed: (Select the entire project = Click the top left corner of the table > Menu ribbon > View > Data > Outline > All Subtasks), and check if any task shows a value at the top of the bar. If so, double-click the bar and Reset it to remove it.
More automatically and safely, as John points out: Menu ribbon > Gantt Chart Format > Bar Styles > Format > Bar > Bar Text > Reset (N.- Now with all tasks and subtasks previously displayed).
Remember that if you accept save on exit, the changes will be saved in all subprojects (deleting bar text on individual tasks).
We look forward to your results.

Naomi,
Can you show a screen shot? I don't quite understand about the white space between rows.

Hi John,
Thanks for your response.
See attached - I'd like to reduce the row height so there is less space between bars; so the gantt is more compact.
Cheers,

Naomi,
Not exactly the screen shot I was expecting (i.e. it doesn't show the actual Gantt Chart view), but let's check a few things.
- Are you using the default Calibri font or another font? Some fonts cause issues with row heights.
- In your initial post you said the row height was set to 1. Do you really mean the bar height (Gantt Chart Format > Format group > Layout > Bar Height)?
- Go to, Gantt Chart Format > Bar styles group > Format > Bar Styles. In the Bar Styles sub-window is the Row column set to 1 for all entries?
