Delegate Sub-Tasks
We have the following problem in Microsoft Planner:
We are 9 people in our team and we have many tasks, that every employee has to complete himself.
Adding each task 9 times will inflate the list, so we added eask task just once and created 9 sub-tasks (one sub-task for every person).
When people mark their sub-task as “Complete”, the task is still “Open” for them (because the task itself has the status “In progress”).
If they mark the whole task as “Complete”, then it is completed for everyone (also for employees, that have not completed the task).
Is there any solution or best-practice for this problem?
I guess, that also others have this problem.
IMHO a suitable solution would be: Let me assign Sub-Tasks to a person.
So I would and assign each of the 9 sub-tasks to the corresponding colleague.
When a employee finishes his sub-task, then the task is no longer shown in his list as “open” task.
But the whole task is still “In progress”

- PedroNLBrass ContributorI also would like this.
- mattfryCopper ContributorI also want this!
- bspec22Copper ContributorWe need this! Sub tasks are a must and I will add that locking a bucket or list for editing must be must so that many eyes can view but many hands cannot change the original process.
- KathyBineCopper ContributorI can think of workarounds, but your team is going to need ground rules to make either work.
1. Use checklist items to assign the sub tasks. Last person to check off their sub task changes the Progress to Completed.
2. Use labels to assign tasks. Last person to complete their sub task changes Progress to Completed.
You could also do this with buckets, but wow, that would really push your team to a low-res information radiator... - Unfortunately no solution currently for this problem 😞
