Unread items not showing in message list Mac

Is anyone else experiencing an issue where the unread items count on the folder increases, but the newly received email doesn't show up in the message list until you click Sync or Sort by Unread? I have over 50 users experiencing this issue

All running macOS 15.4.1 or 15.5

The issue has persisted for several weeks, over both the latest version of Outlook for Mac and the previous version. Possibly also the version prior to that one. The issue occurs multiple times a day

This issue is not present in Outlook for Web and I haven't had reports from Windows users that they're experiencing the same issue (but we only have 2 of those)

I have experienced this issue not only on the office network, but also when working from home

First check for updates and then connect to a stable network, then confirm the Exchange server to check the send and receive settings are not a problem, if there is a problem you can open Outlook > Preferences > Account > To rebuild the mailbox index to open Outlook > Preferences > Search > Rebuild, then check the mail rules and rules of Outlook > whether the rules affect the display is basically no problem!

In Outlook Version 16.97.2 for Mac (Office 365 Subscription), I don't see an option to rebuild the mailbox under Outlook > Settings > Account.  What are the steps for this version of Outlook for Mac?

Also, in the onboard Help Menu there is reference for how to empty cache, but those steps seem to only apply to legacy outlook as well.  Can you offer any other steps?
