Sender Name Not Displayed in Outlook Emails

I'm using the Outlook (New) downloaded from the Microsoft Store, connected via IMAP/SMTP. When I send emails, my name isn't visible to recipients—only my email address shows.

I've tried adjusting the settings but haven't found a solution.

Could you please assist with this?

  • Please check the following:

    1. Verify the display name in Outlook (New)

Go to Settings → Accounts → Email accounts → select the account → Account info

Make sure the Display name is set correctly, then restart Outlook.

    2. Set the sender name on the mail server (recommended)

Log in to your email provider’s webmail or admin panel and confirm the From / Display Name is configured.

Many SMTP servers override client-side settings.

    3. Be aware of Outlook (New) limitations

Outlook (New) currently has limited support for customizing sender names on IMAP accounts.

If the name shows correctly in webmail or another client, this confirms a client limitation.

    Workaround:

Use Outlook Classic or an Exchange/Microsoft 365 account for full sender name support.

I am continuing to have this problem in New Outlook. Only my email address shows in my sent emails, not my name. I have tried everything. Many people have complained here about it. Why doesn't someone from Microsoft solve this problem for us and write the solution here! It is not a professional look to have emails coming from a professional without their names displayed!

I have the same issue quite frequently actually. I contacted Microsoft Support to solve this but they simply told me to update the first name, last name and display name in the contact information for the user. The support agent get that I already configured the user properly.

The annoying part is that sometimes the name is displayed in the recipients inbox and sometimes not. I have no clue why.
