Promotion Folder in Outlook - how to stop emails from going into this folder

Does anyone have idea how a Promotion Folder gets created in outlook and how we can get rid of it from outlook for all users?

Creating an inbox rules method seems pretty annoying as users need to list individual senders every time they get the emails from different senders in promotion folder.

    Hi sbegs,

here are some options you can try to solve your issue.

Option 1: move emails from the Promotion folder to the Inbox

    1. Open Outlook and go to the Promotions folder.
    2. Select an email that should be in the Inbox.
    3. Right-click the email and select Move to > Inbox.
    4. Repeat steps 2-3 for several more emails.
    5. After you have moved several emails to the Inbox, Outlook will start to learn which emails you want to see in the Inbox and which emails you want to see in the Promotions folder.

    Links for reference:

Method 2: Disable the Promotion folder for all users in your organization (as an Admin)

    1. Open the Exchange Management Console.
    2. Navigate to Organization Configuration > Mailbox.
    3. Select the mailbox database that you want to configure.
    4. In the Details pane, click Mailbox Features.
    5. In the Mailbox Features dialog box, select the Disable promotion folder check box.
    6. Click OK.
