Outlook for iPad cannot access Contacts

identical problem. I use Microsoft 365 on home home pc, and the outlook programme accesses my contacts, including contact groups I have created there.
however, if I open office 365 on my iPad it does not open any contacts at all, and I cannot access contact groups. As the information is stored on the cloud I would have expected it to be available on any device after logging in.
do I have to enable contact sharing on the outlook when opened on pc? If so how do I do so?
