Outlook account cannot change from Exchange on home PC using Office Pro 2024 LTSC
- Oct 17, 2026
Exchange is not an alternative application competing with Outlook here: Outlook is the client, and Exchange describes how it connects to your Outlook.com mailbox. Automatic setup choosing that connection is therefore not, by itself, a mistake or a bug. Removing and readding the account repeatedly can simply produce the same expected configuration. First identify the actual symptom you are trying to solve, such as missing mail, unwanted account sign-in or synchronization problems. If mail and calendar work, there is no reason to delete more OST files merely to change the account-type label. Microsoft also documents POP and IMAP settings for clients or workflows that specifically require them, but those are different connection methods, not an “Outlook protocol.” They should not be selected just to avoid the word Exchange. Keep the functioning account configuration and troubleshoot the concrete problem separately

Thanks. If it isn't broke; don't fix it 😁
