Outlook 365 suddenly won't open
Hello; Outlook worked this morning, now it won't open, says to open in Safe Mode, but that doesn't work, tries to open for 5 seconds than nothing. Restarted PC and no help. Please advise! Steven F 603
Steven F, original poster here: my Outlook just fixed @ 1:20 Pm pst, I tried it and it opened right up. Hope the same for all of you, maybe 1 at a time! Thanks all.......

same here, happened around 30 minutes ago. When I went to restart my PC there was an update, which I did, but Outlook still won't open, only in safe mode.Steven_F_603

I had more or less the same issue; it was after a windows update this morning.
I uninstalled office and rebooted, then reinstalled office. No help there.

Well glory be. . . . I just came back from lunch, fortifying myself for an afternoon of fussing with Outlook, and I decided to try to boot Outlook one last time before trying the fix that seemed to work for folks. Outlook opened right up, fully functional, as if nothing had happened.
I guess Microsoft pushed a fix out while I was eating my leftovers.

Steven_F_603 yes, as others have suggested, go to your Control Panel, then Add/Remove Programs, then Microsoft Updates. Delete any updates from the July 15th. That fixed me. (I was able to run in safe mode to keep me going. Which is hit Windows key and R at the same time, then type "outlook_/safe"

Same problem - i disabled hardware graphics acceleration and animated gifs on option/advanced/display and it s working again for me

Steven_F_603 Same issue on two machines ... executing this from a command prompt fixed the issue:
"C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun\OfficeC2RClient.exe" /update user updatetoversion=16.0.12827.20470

Steven_F_603 Same thing here. Windows 10 updated, then Outlook just stopped working. Multiple reboots didn't help.

Ditto. Everything was fine and now I can't use Outlook except in Safe Mode, which is really limitimg
