Outlook 365 suddenly won't open
Hello; Outlook worked this morning, now it won't open, says to open in Safe Mode, but that doesn't work, tries to open for 5 seconds than nothing. Restarted PC and no help. Please advise! Steven F 603
Steven F, original poster here: my Outlook just fixed @ 1:20 Pm pst, I tried it and it opened right up. Hope the same for all of you, maybe 1 at a time! Thanks all.......
- JonesceCopper ContributorSuddenly Outlook won't open. I can access my e-mail through the web but not my calendar. This is a nightmare. I've uninstalled and re-installed to no avail. This is clearly a problem on Microsoft's end. Any luck getting it fixed?

Jonesce I ended losing all my contacts, calendar events and existing emails. Then I had to purchase Microsoft service, $60. Lastly, when I downloaded the required version, significant features were no longer available. Example, a reminder to review a certain email. Example, no color choices or options to label calendar events. All I got in response was a bunch of "sorry". Sucks. Period!

My Outlook365 often won't open when selected. I go to control panel/programs/microsoft365/change/repair and it works again for a while. But I just noticed that when I chose reboot it said Outlook was still open. CtrlAltDel Taskbar said nothing was open. Today did the repair bit to get Outlook working again and tried shutting it down not using the X in the right upper corner. I clicked on File (upper left corner) and clicked on exit at the bottom. So far that seems to be working as I have re-opened Outlook several times, closing out with File/exit and it opens the next time it is selected.

dumwidgmailcom I still have the issue occasionally, but not nearly as often as before. Interestingly, the problem continued through several versions of Office and Windows and on different computers. I found that rebooting normally resolves the issue, but I also learned that even though Outlook doesn't appear to be running there can still be processes or services running in the there can still be processes/services running in the background. I check Processes, Details and Services and end any task that appears to be tied to Outlook. Good Luck.
- QUIRZU1944Copper ContributorOutlook 365 won't open, since last updates. Windows updates sucks.
I waste time, it forces me to search for solutions on Google and Microsoft support for several hours and there is no one. Please correct the latest updates, Microsoft is making my life miserable.- BobMastersCopper Contributor
QUIRZU1944 Same issue a couple days ago. Finally opened task manager to make sure that Outlook was not running. It still appeared under services. Ended it and it restarted just fine. Good luck.

Outlook 365 won't open for the last three days and I have to go to Aol.com to get my email. I've had this problem in the last several months. Before I bought Office 365, I had no problem with another version of Outlook.

Steven_F_603 I had the same issue last week and even after the "fix", although "Outlook would open, it would not load my calendars and contacts. I think this may have been because I am still using "Windows 8.1"? Even after re-installing the programme, the issue still persisted. It transpired that the APLZOD.dll file was corrupted. This link resolved the issue:

Hope this helps anyone who still may be experiencing problems.

Steven_F_603 They claimed they rolled out a fix but I don't see it. Now I can't even open up in safe mode. I'm ready to dump office completely

HiMikeK145
Mid day I started to get updates. Interestingly, no updates for yesterday show on my control panel. However there are three for "windows". KB4565633, KB4565483 KB4565554. They are dated today.
I don't know if they contributed to the fix or not. I do find it surprising that the updates I witnedssed yesterday are not shown on my "installed updates" list.
- SON1958Copper ContributorSame problem here - a real mess not being able to communicate via email !

Steven_F_603Same here. And of course, I immediately deleted Bitdefender Internet Security, a couple of large PST files, anything else I could imagine might be causing the problem, then - a stroke of genius - searched for "my outlook365 just stopped working" and HERE I AM! There was some sort of update early this afternoon, that I received notice of but never told to reboot, etc., like a normal update. Moments like these result in the realization that we are all a few bytes away from complete bedlam.

JeffP357 And, just like that, back to normal; I _guess(?) I should be grateful to Microsoft for "pushing out a fix" but I would be even more grateful if they didn't do this sort of thing _ever_? I am a little worried about Bitdefender hunting me down, based on my heated "deleting your software debrief" survey. Oh well . . . .
