New Outlook Invites don't allow for formatting text with Strikethrough or adding attachments
I've been using the New Outlook for the past few months now but have recently experienced a few shortcomings that I'm curious about.
- I wanted to update a calendar invite to strikethrough some text and add some updates, but the strikethrough option in formatting is not available. Is that on purpose or something that is going to come available?
- I wanted to attach an Outlook item and a document, but there was no option on the invite to do either. Very frustrating that I needed to create the invite, then go into the legacy Outlook and perform the remainder of my desired actions.
Please help me understand what I might be missing, how I can piggy-back on any enhancement requests out there for these items, and/or if I should revert to the legacy Outlook until more basic functionality is incorporated into the future state product.
Thanks in advance Community.

1. Strikethroughs: Strikethroughs are supported if you are the event organizer. You are unable to edit the content that you are invited to. You can also forward the message and then edit it. However, this may not be what you are after. I understand that you may want to highlight details pertaining to you specifically. Feel free to give Microsoft Feedback by clicking on Help then Feedback.
2. Here is a "workaround" for attachments in an event.
To attach an email
- Option 1: Use Save As, which downloads an email (eml) to your Downloads folder on your local drive. Now, you can drag it to an Outlook Event.
- Option 2: Use the MyDay feature. The MyDay icon is located at the top right of the screen.
- Click on the MyDay Icon and choose the Calendar tab. Drag an email to your Calendar. However, the content is embedded in the body of the invite vs as an attachment.
To attach a document
- Option 1: Use the / command. The slash provides a list of suggested documents.
- Option 2: Drag and drop a document into the event.
- Option 3: Use the Attachment dropdown menu

Thanks Teresa_Cyrus.
- I think I got the Strikethrough thing figured out. The full editor options appear at the bottom of the text editor area of the invite. Will proceed with that knowledge and should be able to get what I was initially looking for. Have to scroll down to find the edit options rather than having them at my disposal wherever I'm at on my screen/window.
- The attachment thing is a miss in my opinion by Microsoft. I've got to think that it's a pretty frequent occurrence where users are attaching one or more e-mails into an invite for reference. Having to download and attach is an extra step in the process and unnecessary to save out another copy of something when it's sitting right there in the folder in Outlook. I've never used that MyDay w/drag & drop capability, so maybe it'll be useful.
Thanks for your helpful responses.
Have a great day and week.

Thank you for sharing the full text editor is at the bottom! What a uniquely terrible design 😅😂ğŸ˜
