Lost Messages from GMAIL with POP
I hope this is the community I can get feedback from technical support individuals. My Outlook 2016 is connecting to the GMAIL server and is configured properly. It has been downloading all my messages until a few days and weeks ago. Now it seems very selective and I have no clue about its behavior. When I launch it, it connects with POP and tells me it is downloading 70+ or 50+ messages but only a handful appear in my Inbox. I have searched high and low for the remainder, Junk, Deleted et al. Nothing. Where could these messages be located? Any ideas will be appreciated. Thank you.

The POP download count does not guarantee that every message will appear in the visible Inbox, because Outlook can store items in another folder or data file and views or rules can hide them. First search All Outlook Items by sender, subject, and date, then clear the Inbox view filter and inspect the Folder List, Deleted Items, Junk Email, and every configured PST. Review Rules and Alerts for moves or deletions, including rules that run only on this computer. In Account Settings, confirm which data file is the delivery location for the Gmail POP account. Back up the PST before repair, close Outlook, and run the Inbox Repair Tool if search still cannot find the messages. Also compare Gmail’s web interface, including All Mail and Trash, to determine whether the source messages exist. For future synchronization across devices and folders, use Gmail through IMAP after preserving the current PST.
