Functionality: does it work or not
We would expect that with a name like Microsoft behind it, it would just work—work properly—work without the constant need to troubleshoot the simple (to us) function of searching through our emails to find one in particular.
In my case when I search and reach the bottom of the search criteria returned list, there is a "more" link. When I click on "more" the system 'goes away and thinks about it' and never recovers from and or returns the "more' results.
This is Outlook. It is not a free email service, but it still collects volumes of information about the user(s) and benefits from that revenue in addition to my monthly subscription fee. I expect these types of bugs to have been worked out long ago.
The multiple dots near the top of the search area are traveling from left to right. Like I said, never recover or return results. Why?

1. Functions are not working at all
Try web version of Outlook (outlook.office.com)
Normal → Client problem
Abnormal → Account/Server problem
2. Create new Outlook profile:
Control Panel > Mail > Show Profile > New
Some functions are abnormal
3. Safe Mode startup:
Press Win+R, type outlook.exe / safe
to test if the problem recurs
4. Disable add-ons:
File > Options > Add-ons > Go to COM Add-ons
Uncheck all and restart.
