Find Related messages
Can anyone help with my Find Related Messages in this Conversation function not working?
- The working syntax includes the bracket. That is [Conversation]:="Email Title". This feature is not working as the bracket is missed in the search syntax -> Converation:="Email Title". I encountered this issue when my computer upgraded to KB5007186.

It's been a couple months from the last post, but I'm having the opposite problem.
The search doesn't work with the brackets which has been suggested. In fact, when I right click on a message and select Find Related -> Messages in this Conversation it defaults the following in the search field (including the brackets):
[Conversation]:="Reach out to vendors"
But I always get No Results.
When I choose Find Related -> Messages from Sender, it defaults the following in the search field:
from: "Sender Name"
For this, it works perfectly fine.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Outlook version 2202 (Build 14931.20132)

Hi All,
I have found a workaround for now until Microsoft solves the issue:
Example:
Conversation:=”Some email subject”
Just add a [ ] around Conversation
So as follows:
[Conversation]:=”Some email subject”
- THAstecCopper ContributorThis is an issue in the latest Outlook update. After clicking Find Related>Messages in this conversation' go to the search bar at the top and enter '[' & ']' each side of the word of the conversation e.g. [Conversation]:="Test Search". This is a work-around until MS release a patch.

I remember having this problem in a previous release of Outlook. It was a few years ago, but it seems as though a MS tech reindexed the contact list and that fixed the problem. It may have been that the "Pointer" was not looking at the right file.
check your logs.
We need this fix.
Thanks,
Len

Wednesday, November 24, 2021 9:24 AM GMTHi,
Greetings, Hope you are doing great today.
This is not an issue to resolve whereas it has been upgraded and provides a different way to meet the requirement.
In my previous email, I have provided an alternate way to meet the requirement.
Besides, If you are familiar with the previous feature which was available for the previous version please re-install your application and download the previous version product.
And make sure it is Monthly Channel Version 1712 (Build 8827.2179).
Please follow the steps for changing the office installation option:
Note: By changing the office installation option, it will impact your entire organization.
Please do not hesitate if you have more quires. It is my pleasure to assist you.Thank you for contacting Microsoft Online Services Technical Support.

Wednesday, November 24, 2021 2:55 AM GMTHi,
Good day.
Thank you for your email.
I think you have missed my assessment in the previous email.
Assessment:
--The feature ''Find related in conversation'' has been depreciated by upgrading the application.
--Please use the alternate option which is ''show as conversation'' in the view settings or change the application version and return back to the previous version.
--The Find Related option shows no results have been fixed in Monthly Channel Version 1712 (Build 8827.2179).

Thanks for the info SamuelPegg.
This answer sounds very strange to me :
- The "Find Related" function has been depreciated but not removed from the (context) menu.
- This bug has been fixed almost 4 years ago and now reappeared.
- If we want to keep this functionality we have to reinstall an Outlook version from 2017.
- FLafe95Brass ContributorWhat a bunch of morons this MS people.
"Hey yeah, that feature that we removed but didn't remove the menu for, is deprecated, so yeah, byeeee"
- slivo320Copper ContributorI had the same issue today, manually entering the [ ] into the search box was a work around but I was able to roll back to a pervious version ( Build 14326.20348 ) of Office 365 which resolved the issue and restored the find related search function without having the manually enter the brackets. I then disabled updates in office.
- FLafe95Brass ContributorOh wow, microsoft breaking something that was not broken.
Amazing! - AdrianOrtiz82Copper Contributor

AdrianOrtiz82 Check the response from Moses3000. It works.

- Eric_DhCopper ContributorHow and where to insert the brackets please? I do not know how to do this?
- HankDettweilerCopper ContributorYou can try to place the cursor again in the search bar and manually type the brackets.
subject your keyboard layout it should be ALT GR + 9 or 8.
- PeteBIZCopper ContributorPernille-Eskebo, please fix this Find related option. It works on an old PC but not on the new one. Moses3000 thank you for a workaround for now.
