Email reminders about cancelled meeting
Hello. I set up a series of meetings and then cancelled them. They no longer show in my calendar but I still get email notifications and so do the invitees. Example below.
Your meeting was found to be out of date and has been automatically updated.
| Updated meeting details: |
| The meeting was canceled. |
I'm using 365, desktop access.
How can I stop these emails?

Hi Siani70,
Here are the options you can use:
Outlook Desktop Application:
- Open Outlook.
- Go to File > Options > Advanced.
- Check Automatically dismiss reminders for past calendar events.
- Click OK
Outlook Web Access (OWA):- Left click the setting button.
- Go to View all Outlook settings > Calendar > Events and invitations.
- Check Delete notifications about forwarded events.
If the problem persists, you might want to consider removing and re-adding your email account in Outlook:
Remove or delete an email account from Outlook - Microsoft Support

LeonPavesic Thanks for taking the time to reply. I can't see an option to automatically cancel reminders (although I could be looking in the wrong place!)
Furthermore, the email notifications are not about past meetings but about future meetings that have been cancelled. I also need to stop emails going to meeting invitees.
I should update my query to say I'm using 365 using desktop access.

Hi Siani70,
thanks for the additional info.
You are not doing anything wrong, your version of Outlook doesn't have the Automatically dismiss reminders for past calendar events option in File > Options > Advanced.
You can try to check if you have a registry key in regedit or create one:
- open registry editor (regedit)
- check if you have this registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Options\Reminders
DWORD:AutoDimissPastEvents
- if not, you can try to create it with these values:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Options\Reminders
DWORD:AutoDimissPastEvents
Value 1 = dismissCalendar reminder options missing - Microsoft Community
