Downloading Emails to Outlook on a PC

I have been receiving my emails on Outlook on my PC. It has worked for for years. Suddenly I can only get the most recent emails because the link "Connect to the server to view them" (them being the emails in the folder that are not being displayed) no longer works. This applies to all my email addresses across two domains.
