Creating an alias email address for a domain I don't own

Hi,

My engineering school has set up for me an email address in the form of :  name.surname@school.alumni.com.

Alas, I can only configure this email with a forward (no access to pop or imap).

I want to send emails from Outlook desktop :

1- ideally, with this alumni address as the sender AND reply address.

2- at least, with this alumni address as the reply address (sender adress being disclosed).

Just setting the "From" address in Outlook when sending an email does not work. I get an error message looking like :

Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Storage.SendAsDeniedException: Can't transport send message. ---> Microsoft.Mapi.MapiExceptionSendAsDenied: MapiExceptionSendAsDenied: Unable to transport send message. (hr=0x80070005, ec=1244)

Of course trying to add a server from Exchange Administration Center does not work, because I don't own the school.alumni.com domain.

Any idea or workaround is welcome.

  • Hi Jerome Lena.

you can set any address as Reply-To: one in Outlook for Windows.

Create a message and populate the "Have replies sent to:" field.
