Conversation turned off yet emails appear as string of old and new emails. How come?

Hello all,

I use online outlook only. No 365 stuff. I've disabled the conversation option, i.e. show emails as individual messages.

Yet the emails still appear as conversation, i.e. a string or a group of back and forth emails. Any idea why and how to fix this problem?
