can't get outlook mail to send or receive mail

have a new computer. 

did the email in outlook, filled out all information and still it does not turn on 

can't send or receive mail

    Any error messages? That would be a big help in trying to troubleshoot.

    What type of email account do you have configured in Outlook? POP, IMAP, Outlook.com, or Microsoft Exchange?

      Hi, Diane, I don't know if you're still providing help but I have the same problem.  That said, the issue was all me.  I got a new laptop and installed Office Home & Office 2024.  I then copied my IMAP email from documents/my outlook and I copied my data file from appdata/local/microsoft/outlook to the new laptop.  My email is IMAP but my default data file is a .pst.  I found my IMAP data file but Outlook won't use it.  Ergo, I can neither send or receive email.  I am not offline, my Internet is fine, I've run scanpst.exe as well as the repair tool in Outlook.
