Blocking emails from the entire Hotmail domain in Outlook.com (Microsoft 365 consumer accounts) can be tricky because Microsoft does not allow blocking its own domains (e.g., hotmail.com, outlook.com). However, you can try alternative methods:
1. Use Blocked Senders (Limited)
- Go to Settings (⚙) → Mail → Junk email.
- Under Blocked senders and domains, try adding hotmail.com.
- If it disappears after saving, Microsoft may be restricting it.
2. Create a Custom Rule
Since the standard "Blocked Senders" method does not work for hotmail.com, try setting up a rule:
- Go to: Settings (⚙) → Mail → Rules.
- Click: Add new rule.
- Set Conditions:
- "Sender address includes" → hotmail.com
- Set Actions:
- Delete the message or Move to Junk.
- Save the rule.
🚨 However, Microsoft often ignores rules that block its own domains. If this doesn’t work, continue with the next steps.
3. Use Advanced Filtering (Safe Senders Only)
You can configure your inbox to accept emails only from known senders:
- Go to: Settings (⚙) → Mail → Junk email.
- Enable Only trust email from addresses in my Safe Senders list.
⚠️ This is aggressive—it will block all emails except those in your safe list.
