Word docs won't Save As to OneDrive
When opening an existing Word document stored on OneDrive, modifying the document and then using Save As to save it to OneDrive as a new document, I find that the document with the old name has been modified exactly the same as the new document. For example I open ABC.docx, make changes and then Save As ABC-1.docx Then I go back and open ABC.docx and find that the original document has been changed (saved) just as the new ABC-1.docx.
Also, if I were to open ABC.docx, make changes and then simply close the document, the Save prompt which normally shows whenever closing a document that has been modified does not show. The file simply closes. When I re-open ABC.docx I see that the changes had been saved (even without being prompted to save them. None of this happens when using Save As or Save in Word elsewhere on my PC, only within OneDrive.

tuckersmyth While you have AutoSave turned on the current document will continue to be updated and versioned.

Mike WilliamsIn my MS Office Home and Business 2019 version of Word the "Save AutoRecover information every 10 minutes" is checked and "Keep the last AutoRecover version if I close without saving" is also checked.
These settings haven't changed and Word continues to behave as it always has when saving documents outside of OneDrive.
But very recently this problem began to happen when attempting to use Save As with Word documents kept on OneDrive.
It's not happening with Excel files on OneDrive. Save and Save As work as before.
Something happened, maybe due to an update, and now when I open and make changes to a Word doc that resides on OneDrive I do not get a Save prompt when I close the file (and I do it inside of 10 minutes). The changed document gets saved automatically without asking me whether I want to save the changes or not (once again, in less than the 10 minute AutoRecover setting).
Something is broken.
- Mike WilliamsSteel Contributor"Save AutoRecover information" is not the same as AutoSave. In settings AutoRecover is a distinct option below the option to "AutoSave files in the Cloud by default in Word".
Look at the AutoSave toggle at the right hand end in the application title bar.
