OneDrive embedded PowerPoint slides showing blank page or error
I embed PowerPoint files from OneDrive into eLearning courses using the standard embed links.
As of today, all of them have stopped working. All my embedded PowerPoint slides are currently down across several live eLearning courses.
What I've tried:
- Tried in a private/incognito browser window - still broken
- Created a brand new embed link from scratch - still broken
- Tried a completely different PowerPoint file - still broken
So it doesn't seem to be a problem with one specific file or link - it's affecting all my embeds at once.
What I see:
- Sometimes the page shows: "Something went wrong. This is a temporary issue, so try again in a few minutes." with reference codes:
Ref A: 137479770EE248B2BD8767C1500F6314 Ref B: SG2EDGE2019 Ref C: 2026-08-25T04:41:15Z - Other times the page just loads completely blank, with no error message at all.
I also checked the browser's technical console, and it shows one of the files OneDrive needs to display the slides is failing to load (a 404 error on Microsoft's side), which is likely why the page won't display anything.
Has anyone else run into this, or is there a known issue being tracked? Happy to share more detail if it's useful.

Because all existing embeds, a new embed, and an unrelated presentation fail while a Microsoft resource returns 404, one file or your course HTML is unlikely to be the cause. Confirm each presentation opens in PowerPoint for the web and its sharing permission allows the intended audience. Generate the iframe only from PowerPoint for the web, then test it in a minimal blank page to exclude the learning platform’s content-security policy. Have a Microsoft 365 administrator check Health > Service health for OneDrive and Office for the web incidents, including issue history around the UTC time in Ref C. Preserve the reference values, failed request URL, tenant, browser, and timestamps. If direct viewing works but multiple minimal embeds still return the same Microsoft 404 and no advisory exists, report an issue from Service health or open a support case. Rebuilding every course or presentation is not justified by the evidence.

Yes, I have exactly the same problem. I have embedded about 40+ different URLs to Powerpoint presentations for students and teachers on my GoogleSite. Up until recently everything worked fine. Since ca 1 week not a single one of these powerpoints shows up anymore - only blank space. I have thousands of people around the world using these resources for teaching. It is very frustrating.
I also have tried all of the steps you describe in your post - incognito window, regenerating embed links, using different file links, etc. All to no avail.

Masonator12 Agree - very frustrating for an important feature to go down like this for so long!
I have lodged a support ticket with the OneDrive support team (MSODSupport @ microsoftsupport.com) with all the details and a screen share showing the blank screen and the error message showing the issue is on Microsoft's side.
Hopefully this leads to a fix without much further delay.
